Our Mission
On June 27th, 1990, Houston Police Officer Jim Irby was slain in the line of duty. Jim was known for tirelessly volunteering at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, so in his memory, and with his badge number, The 189 Club was formed.
Our organization relies on the generous contributions from our community to raise scholarship money for children in the Houston area. Every year we help send kids to college by bidding on livestock at youth auctions shows around the region, including the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. Although Jim is no longer with us, we are proud of the work for the community we have been able to do in his honor.
